How to merge PDF files in the correct order

A clean merge is about sequence, page count and final review, not just putting files together.

Merging PDFs is useful when you need one final document from many parts: application forms, annexures, receipts, certificates, ID proofs, reports or scanned pages. The most important part is the order.

Prepare files before merging

Rename files in a clear sequence before upload, such as 01-form.pdf, 02-id-proof.pdf and 03-annexure.pdf. This makes it easier to confirm the order in the browser. Also check whether any file has blank pages, duplicate scans or pages that need rotation.

Recommended workflow

  1. Open Merge PDFs.
  2. Select all PDF files you want to combine.
  3. Drag the uploaded file cards into the final sequence.
  4. Merge and download the combined PDF.
  5. Open the result in PDF Viewer and confirm page order.

Clean up before merging

If some files have unwanted pages, use Remove PDF Pages first. If you only need a few pages from a long file, use Extract PDF Pages. For sideways scans, use Rotate PDF before merging.

After merging

The merged file may become larger than required for upload portals. Run Compress PDF after merging if the final output exceeds a file-size limit. For sensitive documents, use Protect PDF to create a password-protected copy before sharing.

Final review checklist

Check that no document is missing, the page count is correct, the first and last pages are expected, and the final file opens on another device. A few seconds of review prevents most PDF submission mistakes.
